Falls Of Kirkaig
By the time we had finished perusing the gifts and books, then enjoyed coffee in Achins Bookshop the early rain had stopped. We walked to the 18.3 m high Falls of Kirkaig, along 4km of rough path, muddy in places with rivulets running down the centre. Warning notices advise the inexperienced that conditions are difficult, especially on the descent to view the falls; our friends are much younger and fitter but I joined them anyway, though not down to the riverside, considering that this view was quite far enough.
We then continued on the original path for 10 minutes or so for a view of Suilven before retracing our steps. It was surprisingly warm despite the strong wind and all our coats remained stuffed in our backpacks.
A most refreshing day.
