Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker
Yet again not a lot of choice with regard to blips, so it has to be this juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus major). We have had a juvenile (can't tell if its the same one) visiting all season. As yet it hasn't developed the shyness of the adults, movement in the room doesn't bother it. I chose this shot as it shows the red just starting to moult out on the crown. If all the red disappears it will be female. If red remains on the nape it is a female. I am guessing at it being male as we rarely see a female they seem very shy.
