Nostalgic

A touch of nostalgia today for rail buffs in Hampshire and Dorset with an excursion train from London to the south coast hauled by the steam locomotive Union of South Africa.
Quite apart from the memories rekindled by the sight of what many would call a magnificent loco, there is a good deal of rail history attached to this one.
It was built way back in 1937 and operated on the old LNER services from London to Scotland, and is now one of a few surviving locos of this class which are still operational.
The prospect of its journey today still brings out the enthusiasts and I was far from being alone on the platform of the local station at Romsey as the train journeyed back to London.
You can bet your life we will be out again next time a once famous loco and train are due!
