Thar She Blows!
To see whar exactly, you probably need a magnifying glass. All I had with me was my iPhone. I thought of circling the spout in red, but ended up trusting that all you keen observers could figure it out. The middle speck is a buoy, and the dot on the right is a small fishing boat, which seemed to be altering the whale's surfacing pattern. We'd been watching the fairly rhythmic spouting, but as it got closer to the boat, it seemed to stay down longer and change course until we finally gave up waiting for another blow.
The day started out sunny in our backyard, and I hung the load of white wash on the line, carefully shielding our unmentionables with a ring of tshirts. Fifteen minutes later we were at the ocean, with these dark clouds rolling in. And then this afternoon it was steamy hot. The weather reports get stranger and stranger. At least it didn't rain again, as we have solved nothing about the mystery leak.
First fresh pizza of the season with our dry-farmed Early Girl tomatoes and a smidge of pesto. Well worth waiting for.
