Too hot for flies
Currently 41º C at 6pm. You know it's hot when the flies all find shade - usually the house walls or the sides of my water tanks, which is where I found this large robber fly (must have been about 35 to 40mm long). I found quite a few other insects, some of which I have never noticed before. But insects on walls don't really make for terribly interesting photos, unfortunately, but are good for identification purposes.
Bigger and hairier nose
If you didn't see my blip of December 26, it shows robber flies mating, in a more scenic situation than the side of a concrete water tank.
