Threve castle
Woke up to rain this morning, which had us, camper confined for an hour or so. Change of plan as a result of the weather and we headed over to Castle Douglas to see Castle Threave. Nice little castle which you need to get a boat over to, which Kilda wasn’t allowed to do. Had a little walk along the bank and went to see the ospreys, which were nesting nearby with a nice, well informed warden in the hide. From there we headed to Rockcliffe to have lunch in the Anchor pub. Not a very nice pub but the food was OK and it was dog friendly. Dropped one of the cars back at the campsite so we could do the Rockcliffe to Sandyhills cliff top walk. Nice walk with some great views even if it did bugger my ankle up a bit more towards the end. Got to just past Port o’Warren and we managed to get down to walk the last little bit on the beach to Kilda’s delight. Wind dropped so we could have a BBQ at the campsite and stay out talking.
