Autumn is Arriving

The leaves on our grapevines are beginning to turn, and there's a coolness in the air tonight - though I expect we'll get plenty more heat before the summer is over. It's been a much cooler summer than last year, high 30's mostly, instead of high 40's, I'm so grateful.

And World Photography Day... what would my days be like without photography??

As a child, coming back to England from Brazil or wherever, I loved to take my Grandma's albums out of the sideboard in her front room (now in my middle room), and sit on the floor, going through them, catching up on my maternal roots. All b&w, all carefully labelled with brown pen, all inserted into photo corners.

Going through the albums of photos that Mike's Grandad took in the Belgian Congo, I can imagine what their life was like. And how beautiful Mike's Mum was, and what his Dad looked like (who I never met).

Photos of my Dad's first family, killed in a car accident in Mexico. Photos of my childhood in the Amazon. Albums I made my kids compose on their holidays. So many precious memories.

And now Blip, a photo a day. I look back and realize how much grace I've been given. And how much beauty I've seen. Opening other eyes to the beauty around them as well. Photography does that, it helps you see, and bow in awe, and remember that there is always beauty.

Gratefuls:
- eyes to see the beauty
- photography to capture it
- this site where we can share each others' visions
