I went to the National Portrait Gallery today to escape the oppressive heat and engage in one of my favorite pastimes: observing people interacting (or not) with the artwork on display.  It didn't disappoint :)

The two portraits of the Obamas are the only ones in the presidential portrait galleries that are cordoned off because, as the guard said: "they are the Obamas!" with a  big smile.  Wonderful renditions for both of them.  Gawd, I miss having them in the White House...
