Lilac Breasted Roller Bird

The bird life in the Okavango Delta is remarkable. In Botswana, there are several types of starling, not just one.  There are countless beautiful bird calls at all times of day and night. Among my favourite spots were the nightjar (got ridiculously excited on our night safari when we spotted one of them), the go-away bird (with the BEST ever call which sounds like someone whining "go-away") and the lilac breasted roller bird. Noah, our guide, say patiently in the truck whilst I attempted to get a semi-decent shot of it flying, revealing its vivid blue under wings.
