The twin iron Victorian gasometers of Temple Gasworks in Kelvindale are a landmark by the Forth & Clyde Canal. Opinion is divided about their ultimate fate. Many people think they should be saved as part of our industrial heritage as they are likely to be replaced by faceless modern flats.  Others think that if they are demolished  the site could become a meadow or a museum or a swimming pool for the local residents.
The road that crosses over the canal here is a very busy highway to suburban Bearsden and Milngavie and the bridge is currently under major repair until September with a contraflow in place.
