Burland Crofthoose
A breezy day, and a wet morning. It cleared for a bit, with showers in the afternoon. By teatime, the sun had come out and remained sunny.
Up early, and got ready. Last week Bobby Fraser passed away, and today was the funeral. He was Madeline's brother, and like an uncle to me. Good service, and teas after. A sad day, but a good send off. In the afternoon, me and Sammy headed out to the Burland broch for a walk. Chip supper for tea, and heading out with friends later.
It was good to get out and clear the head, and a walk I always enjoy. This croft house has always interested me, but i had a good study of it today. The oldest part will start in the very top left, with the 2000 year old broch. This house would have robbed the broch, all about survival. The house itself it made up over different periods. The back left looks oldest, possibly post-medevial, with a more modern house built on the front, and turning the old house into a byre. On the front left is a new part, with a kiln inside, and I'm standing on what looks to be a added on granny flat. I'll have to get the drone overhead. Taken at the Burland Croft House, Brindister.
