In Recovery

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

This is Caro's first full day in the house and she's still having trouble not doing things.

However, her stomach is sending her messages. At one point she tried to bend over to play with Punky and immediately felt something TWANG.

Fortunately, it was just a warning TWANG. A "take it easy" TWANG. She's been allowing me to do more for her since then. The biggest chore I have to do? Re-aligning her socks.

Caro has to wear DVT socks for about a month. But god knows, she does something weird with her feet. She can be sitting there on the couch and the next thing I know, the heel of the sock has twisted its way around to the front. Again. This happens about 20 times a day.

Every time it happens, I have to turn the sock back around, but just half an hour later, she's done it again. I'm not sure what is happening. She just has these weird rotating feet, I guess.

I'm also making her dinner, but that's hardly a big thing. Caro has these tiny little tubs of pureed food. About the same size as a yoghurt pot. You heat these up in the microwave for 60 seconds and that's it. Serve.

It's bizarre, because Caro can only eat about half a dozen teaspoons of these meals before she is full. I think this phase lasts about three weeks, then we can slowly introduce soft foods like eggs and such.

So it has been a low-energy sort of a day. Lots of tv shows, lots of cat time and a nap or two. I'm loving this "in recovery" phase. I'm not sure what I'm recovering from mind you, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

S.
