Jubilee memorial.

On the side towards the camera is a plaque commemorating Queen Victoria's golden jubilee. On the other is a small notice to say the (rather small) garden is a similar nod towards Queen Elizabeth's.

This low-lying area used to form the bed of the River Ouse which emerged into the sea at the cliffs east of here forming a useful harbour. However a storm altered its course and it then emerged at the town known then as Meeching - now Newhaven.
