upside down bird...

...also know as a White -breasted Nuthatch.
This particular one was seen in the Castlewood Canyon State Park, just an hour's drive from my home. Today I rode my motorcycle behind a friend in her car, and once at the park I changed into shorts and we went on a two hour hike together. The terrain there is amazing as you can see from the shots in extras. We started out on a bluff looking over Lake Gulch Valley, then we descended into the canyon and walked along Cherry Creek River, which was full of interesting rocks and wildflowers. And we ended the hike by climbing back up out of the canyon into a scrub oak forest, where the Nuthatch was lurking.
It was quite an invigorating adventure, including the bike ride!
