Bella

Bella and Evan (who at present doesn't want to be photographed) spent the evening with me and regaled me with stories of summer adventures, movies they've watched, songs they've memorized, and friends they're eager to see again when school starts. Bella has been practicing gymnastics since she was three and is constantly hurling her coltish body into backbends, splits, and handstands. I'm always a little startled by the way her long bones fall naturally into positions of balance, and I could make photos of her all day long. 

It was a relief to be with the children after spending many hours communicating, organizing, and preparing for what Saturday will bring. I will be glad when that day is done.
