Diary of an Edinburgher

Neighbourhood dander

A dry sunny day! All day! Michael came to take Archie out this morning, and his wife came along too, as they're both on holiday. She was impressed at the doggie welcome her husband received. When they came back they stayed for a cuppa and told us all about their renovations nightmare... our renovations were a doddle compared to things that have gone wrong with them.

In the afternoon we took a dander down to our new favourite dog friendly cafe - Victor Hugo (they don’t charge for soya milk - and have great cinnamon buns).

On the way we passed the boarded up shop fronts that have been like that for about a year. A workman was at the door, so I asked what was going in the premises. A new coffee shop. Yay! And what has taken them so long, so far, was having to dig out the basement by hand so that a huge coffee roaster could be winched in. And can never be winched out! Sounds promising. Wonder how much they'll charge for soya milk...

Nice coffee and a pastel de nata at VH's and lots of pats for Archie, then a dander home again.

It's a lovely evening for the Tattoo tonight, which makes a nice change.
