Ironworks
It was on off raining today so we decided to do something undercover which turned out was mainly outside... but it had stopped raining by then.
We went to the Ironworks at Blaenavon which were mostly intact. It had been running since the late 1700s until the late 1960s 24x7. It was interesting how they used the lay of the land to make the process easier with incoming ingredients coming from the top of the hill and the products coming out of the bottom, then lifted back up to the top to be taken away. It is a bit like night and day comparing this side of the hills to the other where we are staying.
On our way back to camp we stopped at the Bear Hotel for our traditional pre-festival meal then dropped in on The Jones', some friends who live very close.
