Ruby..

In the heather over the common.

Before our walk I had noticed one of the bunnies was not very active and laying around more than usual. I managed to get him out and took him up to Lucy, who was still in bed. He rapidly deteriorated as the day wore on. Whilst I was out with Ruby, Lucy rang around different vets to find the cheapest deal and booked an appointment for the afternoon. Sadly, there was nothing they could do for him and put him to sleep. We brought him home and laid him with the other rabbit for a while before we buried him.

As much as I wasn’t keen for them to come, I know they are a big part of her life and to see her heartbroken also broke my heart. It’s very hard to understand how one day he was happy as Larry hopping around and the next he was gone. They seem to be quite fragile and if they have a blockage or pick something up they go at a rapid speed.

A sad day for Lucy... and us.
