Large White.

While I was wandering round the garden wondering what to blip  I spotted this female Large White Butterfly (Pieris brassicae).  It looks as if it has had a hard life going by the damage to the wings.  The slightly cooler day than when I have been chasing butterflies and its concentrating on feeding allowed me to get quite close.

As the scientific name suggests this is the butterfly generally known as "Cabbage White" the gardeners nemesis.  When we were in Sheffield I was explaining to D & E how butterflies have clubbed antennae and moths "feathered".  The "clubs" can be seen well in this shot as can the tongue pushed into the buddleia.
