Leeds Liverpool Canal - "Halsall Navvy"
Lunch with a friend today at the pub you can just see the other side of this bridge.
Halsall is where the first sod was ceremonially dug on 5th November 1770 for the commencement of the building of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The sculpture, by artist Thompson Dagnall, commemorates the labourers who dug the canal by hand.
