Finally made it to the Biggar Gas Works. It was really interesting to see what was involved in producing town gas. The steam engine and the very happy mechanics (see extra) were a total bonus. I was surprised to find out that the last little gas work closed in 1981 in Millport. There are some more pictures on flickr.

We also had a nice wander in Biggar and stocked up on some tasty supplies. Unfortunately, we had to leave the museum for another day. We just made it to the bus shelter before the rain came on, another torrential down pour.
