The street party

The street party has now been going for around 20 years and we have only missed one. The tables are set out the full length of the street and everyone brings a dish. The atmosphere is very convivial and the view could not be better. The street looks out below to the only gardens in the old village and across to The Canigou mountain which gradually turns pink in the glow of the setting sun.
The market was very busy this morning so I made sure I was there 15 minutes before the fish van arrived. I was still only third in the queue. As usual the shopping took about an hour, only a few minutes at the stalls but the rest of the time chatting to the people I bumped into. There followed the usual coffee outside the Camp de Base café.
