Thermal power

About 30% of Tuscany’s electricity comes from thermal power. The east side a Tuscany is well known for its recent vulcanism and the thinning of the Earth’s crust as the Tyrenian sea opened up. A remnant is hot gases and liquids that can be used to superheat water for power generation. Stainless steel pipes criss cross the crumpled tawny hills bringing water from bore holes to the many mini and not so mini power stations; a sharp whiff of sulphur lingering in the air.
