Murchison Metropolis

A wee bit of traffic chaos here this morning and early afternoon. After our biblical deluge of yesterday and last night the roads out of Murch were pretty much impassable. The road through the Buller Gorge was closed due to a couple of landslides and the road to Christchurch was shut due to flooding between Springs Junction and Hanmer. This all meant our police and fire officers were out stopping traffic from leaving Murch anywhere south! Although think they were letting them through if they were prepared to go to Reefton via the Rahu.
Ultimately it was very frustrating for all the poor sods in the cars and vans but for us locals it caused quite a sight! This is the main street with more traffic on it than we cna see in a whole day in winter :-)
