A rediscovered photo

This is a photo of my youngest daughter Sophie. It captures her spirit and confidence. I am not sure how old she is - maybe 5 or 6. It was found in the basement when cleaning out some shelves. She was happy to pose for photos then. Now at almost 13 she is starting to lose her youthful compliance and the easy going nature of the young and carefree that all too often fades, sadly to be replaced by anxiety about her looks, who will see it, what is she wearing, etc. just like her sister.

Tomorrow I will talk to them about the beauty of being yourself. Growing up in the UK it was often discouraged and I need to make sure that, within reason, it is always OK for them to be themselves.
