Whew!
This image of a common sight, the totalizer for a gas pump, and not necessarily a really artful, photogenic image. While you may enjoy watching the thing roll over like a slot machine, the point of this photo is the event....
We're heading home from a great day with the kids/gkids and the wife casually mentions the blinking light on the dashboard. The gas gauge is brightly flashing and informing us that the tank contained only 32 miles on it. It counts down.
I wonder if that's correct. Then, it winds down to about 23 miles and then blinks on and steady with dashes...no numbers. I'm an aviator and I know that a steady light is not good in airplanes...probably not so good in this roller skate of a rental car.
So, I start looking for a place to "land." We pull off of I-75 at Paddock Road. The traffic light is interminable. So, is the next...and the next. The car is still running.
We finally come upon Kroger's Grocery -- car gas is another term for "Krogering".
I snap this picture in 12 degree Fahrenheit weather and casually hop back in. The wife never finds out that the capacity of the tank is less than 10 gallons.
