Blind Bowling

Finally got to my first meeting of the Macular Group Bowls Club this afternoon, though I was just there to observe.  I won't be allowed on the green until I get the right shoes!  Fascinating to watch people who range from partially sighted to totally blind all managing to play an excellent game of bowls.  They are ably assisted by a sighted helper, who uses distance and the numbers on a clock to advise where they should aim.  Probably much harder than they made it look!

A lovely social afternoon, especially as the bowling was cut short after rain stopped play, but I saw enough to know that I'd like to give it a try.
