Summer on the river Frome, Stroud
After work in Cirencester I got dropped off at a supermarket in Stroud. I followed the path to Capel's Mill, one of our beauty spots, and then walked via the Frome banks nature reserve to the canal at Wallbridge. The nature reserve is a superb wildlife corridor, and because the terrain is rough or wet in places, there aren't too many people about.
By the time I got to my friend's house for supper, I felt I'd abandoned my cares. That's the healing of nature..Later, I walked back, but this time I took the canal all the way. It feels so long since I've walked anywhere apart from to and from town. One day next week, I might try to get out of the liftshare car a bit earlier so I can walk home along the canal from Brimscombe. Since I stopped teaching aromatherapy a year ago, I haven't been along that way.
