Early start for day trip to Benbecula, an alarm at 5 is so much easier to do than at 4.45 which is what is required for a Stornoway day trip , the significance of fifteen minutes.uneventful flight with some half decent visibility as we approached. Somewhat unexpectedly, or so it seems to me the plane seemed to veer off form the runway for some way out to sea before it eventually turned and made for the airstrip. I was momentarily anxious until I noticed the flight attendant casually sorting out the flight hospitality detritus .
Short trip to South Uist and a productive visit to Cothrom. Decent cheese and onion toastie followed by orange marmalade cake at Hebridean Jewellery for lunch. Was reminded that the Reformation stopped at Benbecula. Unsure if this related but the dead are buried by the 3rd day, something to do with soul leaving the body, and no doubt linked to the death and resurrection of +. Bit puzzling because this sounds more like a catholic tradition rather than a Protestant one, to which the 3 day thing refers.
