One Crowded Hour

odile...

...when the French trip looked like it might actually happen there was of course (being a Virgo) a bucket list of possibilities.
What is more French than a pootle around the countryside in a 2cv! (extra)

And so it came to be.
In Odile, cherry red and fold back roof for all the joys of open air travel.
Dear L 'volunteered?' to drive...this is tricky stuff with the gear changes to start off with and then of course no power steering and brakes.
We did pootle through the Petite Camargue and the joy and smiles on faces we passed in cars, on bikes and yes on horses matched the delight of a day with Odile.
And of course we found a restaurant for lunch with a 'formule' (extra)

The 2cv came to be as a design for a a French rural population that in the 1930s could not yet afford cars.

The brief was to build a low priced ' umbrella on four wheels' that would transport four people, 50kg of farm goods to market at 50kmph. Another feature was to be able to transport hens eggs across and ploughed field without breakage!
