I love early morning walks in Ashland, before the temps climb into the 90s; there is the occasional jogger, a dog walker. Houses are little works of art, gardens abound—effortless roses and dahlias. The light is lovely, there’s a little breeze, the urban deer are roaming the neighborhoods. That is a literal statement, see Extra. This young buck was not in the least disturbed by us gawking through the fence. He was on the inside of the wire, comfortable next to the array of family bicycles. How did he even get in there? Is he a pet? Not at all, our hosts assured us. The deer are marauders, the scourge of downtown, lured by easy pickin’s.
Our B&B is somewhat notorious for Art Breakfasts, see Extra.2. Since this is Shakespeare country, the themes can sometimes be predicted.
We beat the heat at the movies, watching Yesterday, that wonderful riff on the Beatles.
And now it’s a chance to walk some more into the evening. No jackets! No sweaters or shawls!! Not something I’m used to at home by a long shot. It’s been a fine day.
