Ops!
At this time of year this Clematis is the star of my garden, it's by the gate and flowers profusely for weeks, and has done for years - That has been the position until today when I cut back the dead growth too enthusiastically. Gutted! I usually cut it back in Feb/March time, this year it was wet for weeks and I didn't get round to it, then the sun shone and it grew. I thought I'd get rid of the scruffy dead stuff, not realising that I was cutting into the fresh growth. I can only hope, wait, and see if it recovers next year.
