A Fresh Painted Lady Butterfly
Her golden hairs are so smooth. She seems to enjoy the same food plant as the Mountain Apollo which was my quest for today.
However the Mountain Apollo, in extra, really is not good enough to be the main blip. It is the most elusive butterfly. I spent 2 hours chasing several specimens on nettle covered scree, not easy, as soon as I approached where one had landed, it flew off seemly mocking me!. However, now I know where these amazing butterflies are, I am determined to go there again. Laws exist to protect the Apollo butterfly in many countries including Switzerland. The Apollo is on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
