Gegs

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

Another day, another demo here at parliament. I'm not sure what this one was about, but you can see the Maori flag flying in amongst the protesters so I'm guessing it may have been about Maori rights.

Today, another BA named Jan pointed out the daily conundrum at the back of the Dominion Post to me. I told her I was rubbish at such things but she had already got it anyway. "Egotistical," she said.

At least I think she was telling me the answer.

Hmm...

I asked her if she liked crosswords and such. When she answered that she did, a crossword clue that Fat Pete gave me over 20 years ago popped into my head.

I do not know why I remember it. I just do. The clue is today's title. "Gegs," I said to Jan. "The answer is nine letters and four letters."

Fat Pete, you will be pleased to know that it has been driving her INSANE all day.

"No! Don't tell me the answer!" she told me. "Is it something to do with horses?"

I told her that it was not.

"No more clues!!" she spat, her forehead furrowed in thought.

So I've been thinking about you a lot today, Fat Pete. How you know these little snippets of nuggets of pieces of treasure. And how generous you are with them.

I hope you have a lovely day today.

As for Jan, I sent her the answer in an attachment to an email. "It is SOOOOOO tempting, but no," she messaged me.

Apparently she is going to torture her team with it tomorrow. The gift of gegs keeps on giving.
