Not so deadly nightshade

This afternoon Mr MC and I took Violet to Connaught Water on a warm, if rather cloudy day.  As usual the ice cream van was there, so we treated ourselves before our turn around the lake.  Violet was rather less enthusiastic about the larger birds, the Canada geese in particular although she braved throwing some (suitable) food for them.  
At this time of year, there are quite a few flowers in bloom: purple loosestrife,  rosebay willowherb, Michaelmas daisies and this woody nightshade (solanum dulcamara) to name but a few.  The very poisonous Deadly Nightshade is completely unrelated, although the woody nightshade wouldn't do you a lot of good if you were silly enough to eat the very attractive (but bitter tasting)  bright red berries that appear later in the year.

In extras is Violet walking away from one of the many shelters that we come across in Epping Forest: they have been built by people (aged 10yrs +) who have taken one of the FSC Survival courses, teaching them a variety of bushcraft skills.
