heading for home

We picnicked on the beach at Calais and watched the ferries toing and froing. The children were grateful for a chance to run around like crazies and it’s a surprisingly lovely beach.

I was pensive, watching them and thinking how Mum would love them so. It was 5 years ago today that she died and I’m always surprised when grief hits like new crashing waves. But it’s good to have these children to pull me into today (and touchingly, they also accept if today needs to involve some quiet).

Gratefuls:

1. Children travelling well;
2. The joy of driving on to the ferry - why is that SO exciting?
3. Memories of Mum and siblings who get it.
