Good Omen?

The first day of 2013 dawned sunny (and remained so for most of the daylight hours).

The last day of 2012 was wet and miserable, like the weather during most of the rest of that year.

Let us hope that today's good start is an omen for what is to come during the rest of 2013. (Hope springs eternal in the human breast: Alexander Pope!)

Our picture today was taken during a walk with our friends on this pleasant New Year's Day. We are in the local park, yet again. This is a corner near the pond (the edge is just visible on the far right). I liked the view of the trees and their shadows.

Our visitors left after lunch, and new guests arrived at the same time. And we had a surprise visit from our daughter during the afternoon. So it was a really nice day for us, and even if the weather doesn't hold, the year got off to an excellent start.

More pictures from our New Year's Day are here. My companions on the walk can be seen on the path in the first two photographs, and one of the next set of visitors (a friend and colleague from Liverpool, but who works in Germany) is seen relaxing in the final one.
