A peacock in the desert

Or to explain a bit more, Aglais io, the European Peacock butterfly spotted sunning itself today as Jude and I went for a walk in a wooded area near home called 'The Desert' beside the river Avon. 
I don't know why it's called this so need to find out. Maybe it's a name for the future what with climate change.
