The Golden Wedding
Today we attended the Golden Wedding of some very old friends, Roy and Sue Sexton.
Over 80 people turned up for the buffet lunch much to their astonishment with some family members travelling from the south of England. (see above photo).
They met as undergraduates at Kings College, London during the late 1960s both studying botany.
“The swinging 60s passed us by,” said Roy.” We were too busy studying. “
He recalled how once every term Sue would have a meeting with her tutor to check she was not wearing trousers, and the college doors were locked a 10pm.
They moved to Scotland where Roy took up his “dream job” as a lecturer at Stirling University and Sue got a job as a teacher.
We got to know them through local environmental campaigns, Scottish Lib Dems and Scottish Wildlife Trust where they started the local branch.
This is the first Golden Wedding party we have ever been to and it has given us ideas. Maybe we should start planning ours now.
