Dragonfly Flypast
Of course there is some PS sorcery here but it's my way of celebrating a few of my sharp(ish) images of a flying Emperor Dragonfly.
I managed to get to the lake by 9am today. The sun was already really hot so my plan to capture dewclad, STILL dragonflies was quickly abandoned.
This one male was already patrolling a small pond on the edge of the lake and after a while of watching his behaviour, I managed quite a few acceptable images. I must admit they are nifty little things and I had to wait until it hovered in more or less one place.
I realise that my image just wouldn't occur naturally, as these big boys are very territorial and chase off anything that invades their pitch.
Still it's been fun putting it together.
I was also delighted to see a peregrine zoom past.(in extra) I've not seen one before so it was a good couple of hours
More negotiations needed in the morning because I intend to go back about 7AM
