They Don't Mind the Heat

Dear Diary,

The garden is tinder dry now and rather baked in the sun and heat but the daylilies don't mind.  Their foliage might be a bit brown at the edges but they are blooming beautifully.  Does my heart good.  So does the temperature this morning...45F!  I had to look twice to be sure.  That's 30 degrees cooler than a few days ago at this time.  Finally, a break from the heat.  Now, if we could just get a bit of rain but it doesn't look like there is any in our future.  I do worry about forest fires at this time of year.  I saw a adolescent Cooper's Hawk in Aunties tree but before I could get my camera he had flown to the roof of the potting shed.  All I got was a blurry back view but I've added it as an extra.
