Slow to the Dance
As I walked to the shuffled results, of the 5 Essential Jazz Albums of 1954, I read a weekly Bible meditation in an email from Charlie, a friend and former pastor. Listening to Dave Brubeck in the background while reading his words instantly brought me back to another lifetime. One that saw me as a young struggling teenage musician, and child of God. Lost, is a great way to describe where I was at. Lost as to my future, and how to move forward. And also lost in my path to God. Somehow my recollections of that time are not negative, but more frustrating in nature. I wasn’t a bad kid, I just couldn’t recognize the light before me. What I do remember as a positive notion was his love for music. The combined musical and spiritual calling wasn’t lost on me. Today it seems so vibrantly clear in all of its glorious splendor. Father, thank you for Charlie, thank you for the musical gifts, and thank you for never giving up on someone so slow to the dance.
Pray on,
Eddy
