Spikey Blossoms

Late this lovely, sunny afternoon in our next-door neighbor's garden. Neither Marylee or I know what they are--we'd appreciate help.*  Marylee had lunch with a friend; nothing else of note to report. 

*A friend just wrote and said it appeared to be Culver's Root.
