Hubey and the bandage
I had Hubey through to see an exotics specialist in Coatbridge today, our vet referred him through this morning. Straight away she felt that he had some pain going on in his back, he tensed up when she felt down his spine. She also said he had a repeatable judder when she moved his right hip, also likely causing him pain. This did tie in with my observations of him having what looked like small spasms when he would lie out flat, I knew there was pain, just not where. She suggests upping his pain relief significantly as he's on the lower end of the dose at present. She did bloods and I was so relieved when she told us his renal function was absolutely normal, as that's what we were worried about. He is slightly anaemic, but this could be due to his illness and she isn't worried at present. His lymphocytes were low, but this is likely due to natural fluctuations in rabbits bloods through the day, he has also had an couple of infections so there's that too. Slightly low albumin, but that's probably down to not eating, but otherwise all good. We are to have his weight checked in a week at our own vets, hopefully it will start to come up once his pain is better managed. I really am relieved, he's had us so worried this past while.
This is him with his wee bandage on after his bloods, we were sitting waiting on the results. He ate some romaine lettuce and a blueberry I'd brought for him, good that he wasn't too grumpy to eat. Bandage was off before we left, not a bit of fuss about it, brave wee boy.
