And then there was one. Just one "shop" left in the threatened row of shops and offices on Stead's Place, after the recent closure of the Leith Walk cafe. And its lease is up in October this year, and at that point Drum Properties will have achieved their objective of killing the life in this vibrant part of Leith Walk.

So I'm glad I finally go to add this one to my roster of #leithwalkshops. And I strongly hope that Drum Properties' appeal to the Scottish Government against the planning permission refusal by Edinburgh City Council is unsuccessful and that finally some plans are considered for that whole plot, including the big space behind that I regularly walk backwards and forwards across in order to get to Leith Walk (including today) which make sense for the whole community.
