Empty Sanctuary

A recent visit to Skaneateles Lake in New York State, USA, inspired my desire for some time for solitude and reflection. Unfortunately, this lakeside porch was on private property, so I settled on this photo.

Mesmerized
Thoughts of a childhood
Where laughter filled the air

Longing for a sanctuary
A place to reflect
Memories of family
When everyone was here

A fence stands between us
My desire and my mind
The place I wish to sit
Forbidden this day in time
