Today is the day to spend money.

No, not in this golden gilded cathedral to Mammon, we have decided (after 29 years of indecision) to re-do the bathroom. We have pushed the start button on the project. A 'back to brick' strip out.

Our 1st level criteria have been met.

1. Supplier employs all trades.
2. We have a dedicated project manager.
3. We pay nothing until we sign off on completion.

Now we have a week before their engineer arrives to tell us what we want is completely unfeasible. The process is exhausting, a mountain of brochures - taps?, wet wall? tiling?, underfloor heating? building warrants? radiators, it just goes on and on. I thought I'd just pick a photo out the brochure and say "build us that". I really don't want to look at 2,000 tile samples.

I was impressed with the project manager though, she took us through all sorts of technical stuff we never even thought about ...(pipe bores, you can't pump a power shower off a combi boiler, cable diameters depending on shower wattage  - a 9.8Kw shower needs cabling as thick as my arm, well nearly)

On the upside I envisage a week of easy blips that will bore you to tears. Now all I need is to find a bucket to piss in once the work starts.
