All together now

Son J flew from Heathrow to Munich this morning, hired a car & arrived here at lunchtime. Was the first time all of us had met up with his girlfriend and her son.

The "much older" grandchildren took the not quite 5-year-old under their wings and introduced him to the joys of the swimming pool. At some point, J took off with the children to Ottobeuren to enjoy an ice cream in the town while the rest of us prepared a BBQ.

I had the huge luck last Wednesday to find a brilliant gas barbecue being given away free at the local recycling yard and the luck that I had gone with the trailer. After it had been cleaned up with lots of oven spray, it really looked good and the electricity team who had been here Thursday reckoned it was (had been) a very expensive one as it has two indirect burners rather than hob type burners directly under the grill surface with a layer of stones.

BBQ connected up by son J who claims to be the BBQ expert. Despite the beer he was now consuming, he did manage a decent effort. The BBQ performed outstandingly and I can get rid of the €15 tin one I bought used 10 days ago.

Finally, we had to walk Luna and as I was now a little tiddly, they all took off on foot to do the walk along the river to the village. I was hoping they would end up at one of the two parties I had been invited to that evening but they disobeyed my orders to do the circular route which would have taken them past both, simply going to the river for a swim for Luna & a paddle for the children before doing a U-turn.

Children very tired to bed and we grown-ups managed an hour or two of chat.
