Strange History

The amusement arcade on the Prom features the names of famous battles with a local or Scottish connection but for some reason all are accompanied by medieval battle scenes that are wildly anachronistic. Prestonpans was in the 1745 Jacobite rebellion, Puerto Bello (which subsequently gave Portobello its name via a pub of the same name, named for the battle) took place in 1739 when a small British naval force stormed a Spanish base in Panama and Stirling (as opposed to Stirling Bridge) was in 1648 as part of the War of the Three Kingdoms. Stirling Bridge in 1297 would at least have the right sort of soldiers in the picture.
Taken on my way back from a small family party along the Prom which was a lot of fun.
