Day 208/19. A Dragonfly Hunt.
A trip out into the New Forest today to hunt dragonflies. I love it on a warm summers afternoon. Great fun.
This is a Male Keeled Skimmer, patiently sitting about 20cm from my macro lens. It was not bothered by me sticking a camera in its face.
The Keeled Skimmer, one of our smaller dragonflies, is scarce in the UK except for very localised good populations in the New Forest, Purbeck and Dartmoor. From its yellow tint to the wings, this is a very young male. Adults have fully transparent wings.
